Being hopeful is the biggest secret to success in this industry: Project Head Sangeet Kumar

Project Head Sangeet Kumar
Sangeet Kumar, the project head for Siddhant Cinevision’s Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai…Ajab Sa Risk Hai, is a person who has the habit of working 24x7 just because it is the call of his passion. Having earlier worked with a lot of other shows like Shubh Vivah and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann, Sangeet talks to Tellychakkar.com briefing us more about himself for our Behind the Lens section. Excerpts: Tell us about your journey in this industry? (Pauses) After having finished a course in Mass Communication I stepped into this industry in 2001 wanting to become either a producer or a director. Fortunately, I got a chance to assist writer-director Kundan Shah. Later, I had to discontinue work with him due to some personal issues. It is from there that I entered the television space. For television I have worked on various projects for events such as handling the Filmfare Awards in 2006 and the first Gold Awards that was held in Mauritius. I also did a lot of shows like Shaitan - A Criminal Mind (Colors TV), Shubh Vivah (Sony TV) and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann (Zee TV). And as you know that currently I am the project head of Siddhant Cinevision’s Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai…Ajab Sa Risk Hai that is being aired on Life OK. Any kind of hurdles that you have faced? This industry is such that one faces hurdles at every stage where people try to step onto your shoulders to go ahead. These are the kind of hurdles I did face a lot. What are your shift timings like? Shift timings? You know what, we (project heads) work 24x7. Even if I am at home and a requirement comes up, I work from there. There have been times when I have got up in the middle of the night to work. What motivates you to keep working? Look, this industry is a very different medium where though coming from different backgrounds, people are extremely friendly and supportive. Additionally, this is not an office where one comes to work in formals. Over here, employees get the freedom to work according to the time parameters given by producers. Another thing which is good about this industry is that even a 10th pass individual can get a job based on his or her talent. This is the only industry which works on talent. The motivating factor apart from this is the passion to work with a hope of coming into limelight. Have you ever faced hard times dealing with actors? Not really, but I would like to say that actors are very nice people. When a situation so arises, I feel if one gets into his space and understands the stress level it becomes easier to handle things. After all, even they are humans. If not a project head, what would you have been? If not a part of this industry, I would be helping my father in his business. Your message to aspirants? Being hopeful is the biggest secret to success in this industry. Always keep on hoping and a day will come when you will achieve all that you wanted. It is just that one needs to have patience and keep his cool.
