One of India’s best known fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar found himself embroiled in an unwanted controversy recently. Apparently, a man posing as Atul got in touch with various female models and asked them to audition for a Tamil film of Mani Ratnam. The imposter who got in touch with these girls through Whatsapp, later asked them to come on Skype. Here, the girls were asked to switch on their webcams. Very smartly, the man used to tell the models that although he can see them, they wouldn’t be able to see him as the camera at his end was faulty.
The imposter would then conduct an interview with these models and would start by asking the normal innocuous questions that were general in nature. But very soon, the line of questioning used to turn highly personal. This is when the girls started realizing that something was fishy.
Some models who knew Atul reached out to him and informed him about this occurrence. On learning about this mischief, Atul immediately contacted Mani Ratnam and informed him about this fraud and how they should seek help from the Police Cyber Cell and take a strict action against the imposter before something unpleasant comes up.
Atul Kasbekar confirmed the news and said, “I have got this to Mani sir’s notice and we will soon resolve the matter.”
