Dilip Kumar-Rekha starrer Aag Ka Dariya to release soon

Nonagenarian Dilip Kumar might get to see the release of Aag Ka Dariya very soon in which he starred with Rekha. And he has no one else to thank except director SV Rajendra Singh Babu who is credited for bringing the film to see the light of the day after almost after twenty three years. The film has Dilip Kumar playing an honest air force officer while Rekha (who happens to be young enough to be his daughter) plays his wife. Comments Babu, “I met Saira Banu (Dilip Kumar’s wife) on Saturday and told her that I have managed to get the negative of the film and want to release it. She was very happy and is ready to cooperate with us. She has offered to gives us support to make this possible.” Incidentally, Babu chanced upon meeting a Singapore-based distributor who had the negative of the 1990 film in his possession. When asked why the film could not be released in 1990 itself the director observed, “The film was censored and ready to go but due to some legal issues, we failed to get a proper release. And to my bad luck the producer of the film too passed away. All these day I was frantically on the search for the print and luckily I met this gentleman named Bajaj who let me have the negative.’’
