Besides breaking umpteen box-office records in the country, Yash Raj Films’ Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Abhishek Bachchan-starrer Dhoom 3 has gone on to shatter box office records in Pakistan too and that also in the first week of its release.
Reports from Karachi suggest that the film’s box office receipts from the city’s 56 screens were around Rs 20 million on the film’s opening day. This easily broke the record set by the Pakistani film Waar that released last month and garnered the highest box office collections on the first day of its release.
“Waar grossed Rs 11.4 million on its opening day but Dhoom 3 has surpassed that by a large margin,” Nadeem Mandviwalla, one of Pakistan’s leading exhibitors and distributors has been quoted to have said.
Such is the craze for Dhoom 3 in Karachi that multiplexes are running the film on all their screens and having five shows a day on a single screen, something that has no parallel.
"Undoubtedly Dhoom 3 has been a massive hit and the reason for this is clearly Aamir Khan and the pre-release publicity of the film," Mandviwalla added.
Trade pundits in Pakistan are anxious see by what margin the YRF film breaks the record of Chennai Express that grossed over Rs 100 million in its run in the country.
