MSM set to launch a new channel; Anooj Kapoor to head

MSM
MSM (Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd) is all set to launch a new channel by mid of this year (2014). Early reports coming in suggest that the channel, a GEC (General Entertainment Channel), will air mostly daily show formats and will roll out by beaming Jaya Bachchan starrer Vasundhara and also the much talked about project which will see Amitabh Bachchan and Anurag Kashyap working together in different capacities (both shows co produced by Endemol). Added a source: ‘Yes, the channel should be up by June this year and will air daily shows. Sony Entertainment Television, another channel under MSM, will probably resort to airing only episodic based shows like CID, Crime Patrol, and also comedy (Comedy Circus) and reality (Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega), which have worked for them. Daily soaps on Sony have not really done well in terms of numbers. But more clarity is yet to come as things are at its nascent stage.” When we buzzed a channel spokesperson, she confirmed on the launch of the new channel but chose not to divulge any more information. It is also being said that Anooj Kapoor, currently Sr. EVP and Business Head, SAB TV, will head the new channel. We buzzed Anooj but he chose not to comment.
