Observation is key. Especially in the world of art which is all about mimetism.
A similar thing happened with director Rajat Kapoor whose latest film Ankhon Dekhi is up for release. We are talking of one particular scene which has been inspired by a real life enact.
Kapoor, who passes through Versova circle daily, has been noticing a man clad in a white kurta and a dhoti standing at a particular spot below a traffic signal holding a placard reading ‘Apne dharm par chalo, sabse prem karo’ with no selfish (begging) motive.
This interesting scenario caught Kapoor’s attention and how.
In fact the director got inspired and decided to have the same scene enacted in his film. Veteran Sanjay Mishra has enacted the same scene almost accurately. Interestingly, all this was a mere observation that the director made a note off and brilliantly put the same in the film.
Ankhon Dekhi, written and directed by Rajat Kapoor and produced by Manish Mundra is the story of Raje Bauji (Sanjay Mishra), a man in his late fifties living out a dreary but eventful life in a small house in old Delhi with his extended family. Then comes a random incident that changes his life in a dramatic way.
The film is set to release on the 21 March, 2014.
