If rumors are to be believed, Anurag Kashyap’s dream project Bombay Velvet that has Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead, will not release as per the schedule (Christmas time). This has been necessitated because Aamir Khan’s PK is also due to release in the Christmas period.
With this decision, a clash between the year’s two biggest blockbusters this year has been avoided.
Sources reveal that the makers of Bombay Velvet went all out to convince Aamir Khan and producers of PK to adjust the release dates. However, Aamir denied any such news at his birthday party recently. As a matter of fact, one of the film’s producer Fox Star Studios labeled all this as a rumour.
It seems like Anurag would not like to take any risk for his mega project that may sabotage all his doings.
History has it that enormous losses have been incurred when two big Bollywood films clash at the box office. While in 2012, the Diwali release of Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar made a dent in the box office profit of both the films, the 2013 Eid release of Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara brought in massive monetary loss to Ekta Kapoor.
And with the disaster release of Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam, definitely points out that releasing Bombay Velvet along PK will fall flat on their face.
Now it’s just a matter of time when the Bombay Velvet team comes out with an excuse of leaving the box office race against PK.
