Kamal Haasan and Vidya Balan honoured with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri respectively

Two of Indian cinemas foremost actors – Kamal Haasan and Vidya Balan- were honoured with the coveted Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri respectively by President Pranab Mukherjee, today in New Delhi. Dressed in a stunning black bandhgala, Kamal Hassan looked strikingly handsome at the ceremony and was his usual modest self while talking to reporters about the honour bestowed on him by the Indian government. “I am proud to be an Indian. India is a country with great talents in various many fields. While legions await to be honoured, I am honoured that I have been chosen for Padma Bhushan by my government.” Vidya Balan, on the other hand, was dressed in her trademark attire – a resplendent sari and sparkling jewellery to boot. The actress was choked with emotions after receiving the honour. “I am thrilled, overjoyed and overwhelmed. I am honoured and humbled. I am running out of words to express my feelings and gratitude,” Vidya told reporters. The actress was honoured for her contribution to Indian cinema through films like ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘No One Killed Jessica’ and ‘Kahaani.’
