Channel V to launch two new shows; The Buddy Project to return with season 3
It’s time for some programming changes in the popular Youth GEC Channel V. Channel V which started off as a music channel and adopted the fiction genre in the year 2012, and since then there has been no looking back. From hosting the country’s first reality show, V Viva, to becoming a rage with some of the top youth shows in India, Channel V has definitely come a long way. With shows like Dil Dostii Dance, The Buddy Project, Sadda Haq, Paanch and Gumrah, the channel has managed to hook a loyal audience, which sees a rise every passing day. Come April end, the channel will get a new impetus with the launch of two new shows, - Jhalli Anjali Ke Tootey Dil Ki Amazing Story and Yeh Jawani Ta Ra Ri Ri. The shows look as interesting as their titles. Jhalli Anjali will talk about Anjali’s life post her first break up while Yeh Jawani would be about three young brothers and their bonding. Jhalli Anjali will be jointly produced by Rose Audio Visual Films and lyricist Niranjan Iyengar. As for Yeh Jawani, the show is being helmed by Vaibhav Modi under his banner Bolt Media Ltd. Vaibhav has previously headed the non scripted entertainment section at Endemol apart from working with Sony Entertainment Television. The shows will be bi-weekly. Jhalli will air from 28 April every Monday-Tuesday. Yeh Jawani will entertain masses from 30 April every Wednesday-Thursday. Both will take the 5:30pm slot at their respective airing days. Currently, the time slot is taken by The Buddy Project season 2 (Sunshine Productions) which has been one of the most successful shows of the channel and has also received the best youth show award at The 12th Indian Telly Awards. However, the season 2 will wrap up to only return with a vibrant and promising season 3. ‘The new season will be a completely different product. A new story, a new space and some new faces with an unpredictable plot,” said a source. Palak Jain and Bharati Kumar have already shot for their last scenes (of season 2) and a teary farewell was given to both the girls. As for the guys, Nikhil Mehta, Kunal Jaisingh and Fahad Ali have been retained in season 3. Thus the new season is going to be a boy’s time out kind of fun show. Added the source, “This new season will be a very different project and the creatives are still finalizing the last draft. As for Manav Gohil, things still haven’t been decided whether he will stay or move on.” And another development, the new season of The Buddy Project will be aired only bi-weekly (Friday-Saturday), unlike 5 days in season 2, starting 2 May on the same slot of 5:30 pm. The two new shows and season 3 of The Buddy Project will be completely on the lines of Channel V’s new funda of showcasing the youth attitude, through their Correct Hai tagline. We called up producer Sudhir Sharma but he remained unavailable. Lavanya Anand, creative head, Channel V confirmed about the two new shows whereas Prem Kamath, EVP and GM of the channel, asked us to call later. We will update you with more details on the same soon. Keep reading Tellychakkar.com. Your ultimate source for all the latest news and updates from the world of entertainment.
