The entire country seems to be harping for a change this time and joining the chorus is Bollywood. With polling already having started in the country, and Mumbai slated to go to polls on 24 April, we spoke to a few A listers to know about their hopes from the upcoming general elections and all of them unequivocally demanded change.
Deepika Padukone - The sentiment of the entire country demands a change. I hope the promises made to our voters are fulfilled. I am specifically looking for women empowerment this time around.
Alia Bhatt - More than 12 crore people would be voting this time. Although, I won’t be able to vote, I have been spreading the word on every media platform and asking people to vote. Actually, ours is a country with diverse states. For instance, the needs of Maharashtra will not be the same as Nagaland. And I hope we get such a leader or party who will nurture and take care of each and every state just like a mother who cares for her children. And this change can be brought about only by voting.
Akshay Kumar - I will be in Mumbai and will cast my vote. I am not supporting any political party, but I know who I am going to vote for.
Arjun Kapoor - I hope people come out in large numbers and vote. To expect a change, you have to be a part of that change. Everyone wants our country to progress and we crib and complain about different issues. But you will have that right to complain only if you vote. So vote responsibly and choose the right leader you want.
Kangana Ranaut - I hope all eligible people come out and vote responsibly this time.
Rajeev Khandelwal - I am hoping this will be a revolutionary election. Looks like Indians have woken up and realized that it is their right to expect good governance.
Soha Ali Khan - Voting is a right and responsibility bestowed on us. We need to engage with our leaders and hold them accountable by making an informed choice on the day.
Varun Dhawan - Voting is a responsibility as well as a duty. We, as citizens, must take care of our country. Voting is the first step towards it.
Sunny Deol - Our country needs a change. Vote and choose the government you want. If you don't vote, then you have no right to complain about wrong governance.
Suneil Shetty - We need to be governed by one major single party rather than an alliance of parties. We have Congress at the Center and BJP in some states. I am from Karnataka. The problems we face are peculiar to our region. So while Congress is at the center, it’s BJP in the state. Tomorrow, if it's BJP at the center, it will be Congress in states. This creates a problem in the dispersion of funds, growth and development. Hence, I advocate the need for the presence of a single party throughout for uniform governance.
Sonu Sood: We definitely need a change. And I hope we make it happen this time around by coming out and voting. I will definitely be voting and then fly down to IIFA.
Well, we hope India registers a historic voter turn out, this time.
