Cricket pundits across India questioned the wisdom behind having two World Cups (ODI and Twenty20) in 2007. Well, after India's nail-biting victory over Pakistan in the Twenty 20 World Cup final in Johannesburg yesterday, no one is in the mood to complain. Both the pundits and our crazy fans are now dancing in joy. Our Tellywood stars took time off from their hectic schedule to catch on the action. Some cricket fanatics speak on India's T20 triumph. Shonali Nagrani I watched the game at: Seijo, Bandra. In the process, I ended up making new friends. On India's victory: I'm relieved that we won. My heart was beating really fast. It was a great decision by Dhoni to give the last over to Joginder. Vis-a-vis 1983 World Cup: It's unfair to compare between the two wins. We should cherish both the triumphs equally. Dhoni as test captain? Our youngsters have shown a great attitude. Dhoni's confidence has rubbed on to other players. However, I think the test captaincy should go to Ganguly. Should Dravid, Sachin, and Sourav quit ODIs? I've been saying this for a long time. However, they should quit the game at their peak. I've always had this image of Tendulkar as the master blaster. That's the way I'd like to see him go out. I wouldn't like to comment on Ganguly as I have a soft corner for him. Future of Indian cricket: We have the talent but the BCCI needs to improve a lot. Unless, we provide better facilities to our players how can we expect them to deliver. We need to have more stadiums; Mumbai in particular needs special attention. Indraniel Sengupta I watched the game at: Sports Bar, Andheri (W). On India's victory: Simply mind blowing. You couldn't have asked for a better match. For the first time, we had an Indo-Pak World Cup final. I was confident we'll keep our 100 per cent record against them in a World Cup intact. After the match, we chanted the national anthem and were also constantly saying Ganpati Bappa Moriya. Vis-a-vis 1983 World Cup: I'll put the 1983 triumph higher as that victory catapulted us into the top bracket of cricketing nations. No one had expected us to beat a West Indies side which was at its peak. Dhoni as test captain? We need Sachin for test and Dhoni should stick to ODIs. That will be a fine mixture of experience and youth. Should Dravid, Sachin, and Sourav quit ODIs? None of them should retire. However, the trio should play only against the top opposition. Future of Indian cricket: We are on the upswing. The likes of Dhoni and Yuvraj have passed their never-say-die attitude on to the team. I'm sure these boys can help us win the 2011 World Cup. Mannish Goel I watched the game at: My friend's place. We decided if India wins then we'll feast on food and wine. Had India lost, we would have skipped the dinner. Fortunately, I didn't leave with an empty stomach. On India's victory: No words can describe the feeling I'm going through now. None of us expected this team to even make it past the Super 8 stage. They've really made us proud. Vis-a-vis 1983 World Cup: The T20 is a bigger achievement for the simple reason that we won without our experienced and star players. Dhoni as test captain? Dhoni hasn't let captaincy affect his batting. However, he hasn't quite cemented his place in the test side. So, we need to have an experienced player as captain for tests. Should Dravid, Sachin, and Sourav quit ODIs? It's high time that Sachin and Sourav stop playing ODIs. Dravid has been our consistent performer, so, he should hang on for a while. Future of Indian cricket: Every time our youngsters perform, we put them on cloud nine. They often succumb to this instant fame. If we teach these youngsters to remain on their feet, we can expect consistent performances from them. Aamir Ali I watched the game at: Nataraj studios. We were reahearsing for Nach Baliye. On India's victory: Unbelievable. There were times when I thought we got it in the bag. Once Misbah started whacking sixes, I thought we'd lost it. I'm just glad we pulled if off in the end. Vis-a-vis 1893 World Cup: Difficult to compare. Back then we beat the might of West Indies. Here, we toppled teams like England, South Africa, Australia and Pakistan that too without our experienced cricketers. Both the wins are special. Dhoni as test captain? Sachin Tendulkar should lead the test side. Should Dravid, Sachin, and Sourav quit ODIs? Sachin is good enough to last for another two years. The other two should retire from ODIs. Future of Indian cricket: It's bright. I'm confident that these youngsters will bring in more trophies.
