Uday Chopra's Grace of Monaco thrashed by critics worldwide

Grace of Monaco which offered Uday Chopra his five minutes of fame in the international press at the world’s most prestigious film festival has opened to disastrous reviews with critics worldwide slamming the movie. The Hollywood Reporter termed it ‘middlebrow mush’ while The Telegraph called it ‘fantastically silly’. Screen International likened it as ‘a schmaltzy, soft-focus rear-end to last year's car crash biopic Diana’. Critics have regarded Nicole Kidman’s performance as the only silver lining in the otherwise disappointing movie. Time Out wrote ‘Kidman's breathless, blank performance does little to add life or credibility to a script that, looking on the bright side, might have audiences giggling for years to come." Earlier in the day, Uday Chopra dressed in jet black suit and bow tie, looked every bit handsome as he posed on the red carpet with the film’s leading lady Nicole Kidman and other important cast and crew. Unfortunately, Uday cut a lonesome figure as Nicole Kidman stole the limelight away from all those present. The actor-producer later attended the premiere of the movie which officially opened the 67th Cannes Film Festival. Thankfully, Grace of Monaco is not part of the Cannes Film Festival competition. The competition round begins on Thursday with the first screening of Mr. Turner by British director Mike Leigh. The festival will run for 11 days and the awards would be announced in another grand gala event.
