Farhan Akhtar is a popular Indian actor, director,screenplay writer,playback singer,television host. He is the son of popular Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar and screen writer Honey Irani. He was born on 9th January 1974 in Mumbai. He went schooling to Maneckji Cooper school in Mumbai and studied law degree in the HR College,Mumbai. He got married to Adhuna Bhabani and has two children, Shakya and Akira.He made his directorial debut in Bollywood with the film Dil Chahta Hai in 2001 which was a major success. He is most popular for his directorail ventures like Lakshaya, Don,Honey moon travels pvt ltd. He made his acting debut with the film Rock on!! in 2008 and moved on to appearing in films like Luck by Chance, The Fakir of Venice, Karthik calling Karthik which were box office failures. His major hits include Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Shaadi Ke Side Effects. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was his first major solo hit which is a biopic based on the flying Sikh Milkha Singh's life. He won a number of awards including filmfare, IIFA, Asian, International,Screen awards for both his directorial as well as acting ventures. Men Against Rape and Discrimination or MARD is a social campaign launched by Akhtar in 2012 and he also appeared on television on Ndtv Imagine in his show Oye its friday! and also judged a season of Nach Baliye.
