Top shows of 90's we really miss today - Part 2

While we enjoyed our childhood watching the most popular television shows of 1990’s, there are some shows which we still hold close to our hearts. While we earlier presented some of the top shows of the 90’s, here we bring to you the second part of the most loved shows till date. Captain Vyom In the 90’s when comedy was a raging trend, India also tried its hands at producing Sci-Fi serials and with a good measure of success. Captain Vyom was one such serial with Milind Soman starring as the protagonist title character along with Tom Alter. Set in the futuristic setting of 2220 A.D. when mankind has conquered the solar system and is looking to capture new frontiers, the world is ruled by a government whose headquarter is based in Delhi. Produced by Ketan Mehta’s Maya Entertainment Limited, the series enjoyed a fair amount of fan following when it aired 54 episodes on DD National. Aahat How can one forget the series which gave some spine chilling horror! Produced by Fireworks Productions on Sony Entertainment Television the series was a mega hit amongst the audience. It premiered on 5 Oct 1995; the show ran for five seasons, ending on 25 November 2010! Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka Produced by Divya Drishti Tele Network Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka on Sony TV was the first Hindi fiction series to reach 1000 episodes and is one of the longest running television serials of Indian television set around a family of Gujarati businessman, Purushottam Nanavati. The show also aired on Gujarati on ETV Gujarati called as Sapna Na Vavetar. Ramayan Ramayan was a highly successful and phenomenally popular Indian epic television series created, written, and directed by Ramanand Sagar. The epic mythology Ramayan was enormously popular, drawing over 100 million viewers. People religiously woke up early to watch the popular series. The 78 episode series originally aired weekly on Doordarshan. Post its grand success, the show was once again launched by Sagar Arts on Zee TV in 2012. Filmy Chakkar One cannot forget the importance of the actors who immortalise the characters of the sitcom. It is their perfect timing and understanding of the craft that goes to create history. Such was the strength of the Satish Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah that they created history in entertaining the viewers based on a series of incidents and escapades that occur in a family of filmi buffs! Alif Laila Produced by Sagar Films, the hit show, Alif Laila (The Arabian Nights) offered a joyride of entertainment for two seasons. The series started right from the very beginning when Scheherazade started telling stories to Shahryar. Alif Laila contained both the well-known and the lesser-known stories from One Thousand and One Nights. The first season was aired on DD National and the second on SAB TV. Later, it also aired on ARY Digital, BTV, and ETV. Shaktimaan When the darkness took over to destroy the world, a new superhero was born to fight against evil spirits. He was every child’s hero, Shaktimaan! Produced by Mukesh Khanna the 400 episode series originally aired on Doordarshan and it later expanded its story telling through diverse cartoons and comic books. Saans The enigmatic show aired on Star plus was a big hit during the 90’s. Written and directed by television actress Neena Gupta, the talented lady was also a part of the show as the protagonist and created immense magic through her chemistry with Kanwaljit Singh. Saans is one of India's most successful soaps. It has redefined the image of the Indian woman and captured the attention of evening viewer who tuned in to smile, cry and to live with Priya. Zee Horror Show Created by Ramsay Brothers Limited, Zee Horror Show's popularity created great buzz on social networking communities like Facebook and Orkut by its fans. It featured short stories in the form of 4 to 5 episodes, each one based on suspense and horror. One of the episodes, "Jeevan Mrityu", based on dowry system (featuring Pallavi Joshi) gained so much popularity that it was re-telecast on popular public demand.
