MUMBAI: Naga Chaitanya, the son of Nagarjuna Akkineni, gets engaged to Sobhita Dhulipala, his true love. On August 8, 2024, the couple conducted a private engagement ceremony at Nagarjuna's Hyderabad home. The devoted father gave Chaitanya and Sobhita’s admirers a collective breakdown when he shared the good news on social media with an emotional message. Nagarjuna has now revealed a few insider insights regarding the rushed engagement.
Nagarjuna opened up about the recent engagement between his son Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita saying, “It went very very well. Chay has found happiness again. He is very happy. So am I! It has not been an easy time for Chay or the family. The separation from Samantha left him very depressed. My boy doesn't show his feelings to anyone. But I knew he was unhappy. To see him smile again...Sobhita and Chay make a wonderful couple. They love each other dearly.”
On choosing the date 8th August for the engagement, the veteran said, “Only the immediate family was there. Sobhita's parents and sister. Chay's mother was there, of course. My wife, Amala, was there. That's it. We chose this day because it is very auspicious. Both families consulted the Nakshatras, and when we were told August 8 was a very auspicious day, we decided to go ahead with it.”
Speaking of his would-be Daughter-in-law Sobhita, Nagarjuna said, “In fact, you will be surprised to know that I know her from long before Chay (laughs). Yes! Chay got to know Sobhita two years ago. But I have known her for six years. I saw her in Adivi Sesh's film Goodachari and liked her work. I told her that. From then on, we have had many discussions on cinema, life, and philosophy. Sobhita is a very well-informed girl."
When asked if his relations with Naga’s ex-wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu remains unchanged, he said, “Yes, of course. That remains unaltered. What happens between a couple is an entirely different matter.”
Nagarjuna concluded saying, “This is such a happy occasion for the family and for Sobhita's family, they really like Chay. Can't blame them. My son is a gem of a boy. He deserves happiness. I am very proud that both my sons have turned out to be fine men. Pray for Chay and Sobhita to be happy together forever. I know they love each other deeply. Pray that the love remains.”
Meanwhile fans were heartbroken when Naga and Samantha announced their divorce. The couple however have been amicable about their separation.
