Actor Ameesha Patel, who shot to overnight fame with the 2001 blockbuster hit Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai...!, claims that her Gadar co-star Sunny Deol and she “ghost-directed portions of the film”. The sequel, directed by Anil Sharma, stormed the box office upon its release in August last year, solidifying its place among Bollywood’s highest-grossing movies.

Ameesha Patel is opening up about the creative differences during the shoot of Gadar 2, and how it was Sunny Deol and her who stepped in and made space for many changes in the film. Speaking with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha said that Kunal Goomer deserves the maximum credit for the success of the film.

Most people had no idea what the title meant, and the film's promotional material simply stated that it was an Aamir Khan film, therefore it was probably worth our money. Anil Sharma, who directed Gadar, just had a great comeback with Gadar 2, while Ashutosh Gowariker, who was regarded as the more competent filmmaker at the time, has seemingly vanished from the filmmaking world.
