As a mark of respect for the late Balasaheb Thackeray, who died on 17 November, noted actress, danseuse and producer Hema Malini has postponed her annual dance festival Jaya Smriti. "Due to sad demise of Shri B Thackeray, Jaya Smriti on 17 & 18 Nov is postponed. I hope you all who love me will stand by me in this situation," Malini posted on Twitter. The new dates for the music and dance event are yet to be announced. This year, the festival was scheduled to host performances by budding Indian classical dancers, besides workshops on Odissi and Kathak.

Going back on his earlier plans to celebrate his 90th birthday, thespian Dilip Kumar has cancelled his birthday celebrations that fall on 11 December in the wake of the death of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray.

Yesterday (18 November 2012) Mumbai gave a tearful farewell to Shiv Sena Supremo, Balashaeb Thackeray among which were scores of Bollywood personalities prominent among them Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Riteish Deshmukh and Mahesh Manjrekar. One of them was noted actor, filmmaker Manoj Kumar. Condoling Thackeray’s death, Kumar recalled some moments of togetherness with him. Both have been friends since 1967. "Our first meeting was at a felicitation function organised by the IMPPA in 1967 at the Taj Hotel,” informed Kumar.

She is in Ludhiana with her son Suchindra to attend a family wedding. But dancer-actress Vyjanthimala is on no mood for celebrations.
