Made on a shoestring budget of Rs 4 crore, the Marathi film 'Sairat' emerged as India's most profitable and highest-grossing film, rewriting box office dynamics.

A case has been registered against actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar at Mahim police station in Mumbai for allegedly showing obscene scenes involving minor children in a Marathi film. The case has been registered under IPC Section 292, 34, POCSO Section 14 and IT Section 67, 67B.

The commission has received a complaint from an organisation in Maharashtra over the trailer of the film. NCW chief Rekha Sharma has written a letter to the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, to censor the bold and sexually explicit scenes in the film's trailer.
