Veteran actor Mumtaz reflects on her challenging start, breaking the B-grade label, and her transformative role in Ram Aur Shyam.

He once had the opportunity of working with legendary actor Shammi Kapoor for his Tv show Shikast where Kapoor played the role of a villain. He has now recalled an anecdote of how Kapoor took up the role and what happened next.

In an interview, Mumtaz said that Raj Kapoor who was the lead as well as the director of the film made her audition for the role however later dropped her from the film.

Mumtaz's ethereal presence enhanced several Bollywood achievements in the 1970s, and established her place as the country's sweetheart. Her charisma not only captured the hearts of the audience but also those of her colleagues, inspiring them to write captivating stories of love and heartache.

Shammi Kapoor was reportedly in a relationship with actress Mumtaz. The song ‘Aajkal tere mere pyaar ke charche’ from their film Brahmachari really brought her into the spotlight.

<p>According to reports, a lot of filmmakers and actors are interested in this project but the makers are in no rush to narrow down the cast and crew for the film. The content will be finalized after short-listing the parts of her life that will be displayed in the film.</p>

<p>“Look, I was in London and they wanted me to come in a short period of time. It was not possible. I love kids and I wish they had contacted me a bit earlier than they did.” Mumtaz is keen on doing the show in the future if things work out as she does follow it.</p>

Having made her debut in 1958 with Sone Ki Chidiya, at the young age of 11, Mumtaz emerged as a big star, who gave several hit films with Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh and Mumtaz were a popular onscreen couple.
