He once had the opportunity of working with legendary actor Shammi Kapoor for his Tv show Shikast where Kapoor played the role of a villain. He has now recalled an anecdote of how Kapoor took up the role and what happened next.
In an interview, Mumtaz said that Raj Kapoor who was the lead as well as the director of the film made her audition for the role however later dropped her from the film.

<p>“Look, I was in London and they wanted me to come in a short period of time. It was not possible. I love kids and I wish they had contacted me a bit earlier than they did.” Mumtaz is keen on doing the show in the future if things work out as she does follow it.</p>
Having made her debut in 1958 with Sone Ki Chidiya, at the young age of 11, Mumtaz emerged as a big star, who gave several hit films with Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh and Mumtaz were a popular onscreen couple.
Veteran actress Mumtaz has said that nobody believed that she and Shammi Kapoor were in love and that he wanted to marry her. She said ‘no’ to him and married Mayur Madhvani.
