The news came as a bolt from the blue. Twitter was abuzz this morning that Sophiya Haque, one of India's first VJs had passed away in London. Of what it was not clear; speculation is that Cancer - the Big C - had claimed her life.

Noted theatre personality Jaydev Hattangady passed away at 4.30 am today. Since the past one year Jaydev who had been diagnosed with cancer was keeping indifferent health but the firebrand that he was he continued working till his last days. He is survived by his wife the very talented Rohini Hattangady and son Aseem. He was 60.

Director and producer Baldev Raj Chopra (B.R. Chopra) passed away at 8.15am at his Juhu residence. He was 95. An M.A in English Literature he began his career as a movie journalist. In 1955, he formed his own production house, B.R Films. His first movie for this production house was <em> Naya Daur </em>. Chopra believed in depicting social themes and family values in his movies.<em> Dhool ka Phool, Waqt, Aadmi aur Insaan, Gumraah, Humraaz, Ittefaq </em> were some of his landmark films.
