Partying's sweet sorrow for Reth

<em>Reth</em> is ready to party to celebrate the completion of 350 episodes. But there's a sting in the tail for this Zee tale. It's also time for the afternoon show to wind up, in accordance with the channel's revamped working. Reth, that's been on air for more than two years, will come to a logical end by the first week of February.

Diwaker is daddy cool!

After Ronit Bose Roy, now it's the turn of Diwaker Pundhir to become daddy to a little girl! Diwaker's baby was born on 14 July and the new dad seems very excited about his new found status. "Well, I am very happy! We haven't been able to name her yet and I guess the process is going to take at least a month, since we have so many suggestions coming in," grins Diwaker.

Diwakar Pundir is the new man in Jia's life

Grasim Mr India 1998, Diwakar Pundir will enter the <em>Reth</em> plot from 16 May. Diwakar will play Kshom, a lawyer by profession, who will be Jia's love interest in the Zee primetime show. Kshom is this happy go lucky guy, charming, dynamic and ambitious. In pursuit of money, he wants to be successful - by hook or by crook. Though he's not a bad guy, he doesn't set a store by high ethics and he admits the fact freely as well. Kshom will play an important part in Jia's life by getting her out of several tight spots, we hear.

Kamya Punjabi quits 'Rihhaee'

Kamya Punjabi (the other woman in Zee's <em>Reth</em>) is out of Sony's <em>Rihhaee</em>. The actress could not handle the two shows together, we hear. "Earlier I was told by the <em>Rihhaee</em> team that I would be required for only seven or eight days in a month. Now, they want block dates for the entire month. Since I am also doing <em>Reth</em>, which in fact, had happened to me much earlier than <em>Rihhaee</em>, I could not do what they wanted," she says ruefully.

"My car was totalled!"

Kamiya Punjabi's a distressed girl today. Kamiya, who plays Netra and Kiran in Zee's <em>Reth</em> and <em>Astitva</em> respectively met with a bad accident in Mumbai last evening. "I was to make an appearance at the <em>Zee Antakshari</em> finale taking place at Famous Studios, Mahalakshmi. I decided to go to my aunt's place to change since it is located near the studio," she recounts.

'Sindoor' to replace 'Reth' on Zee?

Zee's biggest soap launch of 2005 is slated for launch mid March. <em>Sindoor</em>, another women oriented daily soap created by Jay Mehta, is likely to replace <em>Reth</em> and will air at 7:30 pm. Based loosely on the Sridevi starrer Sadma, <em>Sindoor</em> is a story with a difference --- the lead character, played by Gurdip Kohli, is mentally unbalanced, the mother-in-law is overtly protective about her son and no, it is not a saas-bahu saga.
