Sequel fever grips Bollywood

The season of sequels is upon us. Besides the sequel to ABCD we have Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroop which is already 10 percent complete and Neeraj Pandey’s <em>Special Chabbis</em> 2 which would be launched very shortly. Prabhu Deva who now has the unequalled track record of being a superstar choreographer, dancer, filmmaker and actor in Tamil and Hindi, is torn between directing his next film <em>Rambo Rajkumar</em> with Shahid Kapoor and working on the sequel to the new dance film ABCD.

Setback for Shahid Kapoor as he gets replaced in two new projects

Shahid Kapoor has just had a double setback with two replacements in his forthcoming starrers. Firstly, it has come to light that Shahid has been replaced by Imran Khan who will now play the lead role in the sequel of Vishal Bhardwaj’s <em>Kaminey</em>. Trade circles say that of late, Bhardwaj has been praising a lot of his latest hero, Imran. An insider also goes to say that the director even went on to compare Imran with other actors he has worked with in the past including Shahid and Saif Ali Khan.

There is pressure now on Shukla to do a sequel to OMG right away. And the pressure comes from a very powerful corporate house pleading on a very significant reversal in religious ritualism precipitated by OMG.

Shekhar Kapur asked to helm sequel of Mr India

All these days, we have been hearing of a sequel of Mr India. But now, Boney Kapoor has decided to go ahead with the sequel that would be directed by Shekhar Kapur, who had directed the original way back in 1987. If that is not all, the film’s original leading couple Anil Kapoor and Sridevi will also be a part of the project though not in the lead roles. They will portray important characters. It is also reported that Salman Khan would be a part of the project. According to sources, the <em>Dabangg</em> star will be seen in his first negative role in the film.

Sequel of Phas Gaye Re Obama in offing

It looks like that Revel Films, makers of the 2010 hit Phas Gaye Re Obama, are celebrating the victory of President Obama in the right spirit. They are mulling with the idea of now pushing for the sequel of the film. Said producer Ashok Pandey, “I think this is the perfect time for a sequel. In fact, we were thinking of this for some time now. Given that there was a very strong feeling that Obama would be returned to the seat of power for the second time.”

Amitabh Bachchan in Bhootnath sequel

Throwing reports that the production house hasn't quite recovered from the back-to-back flops to the wind, B R Films has decided to go ahead with the sequel of <em>Bhootnath</em> that will again star Amitabh Bachchan. Some days ago, it was reported that the failure of its last release <em>Bhoothnath</em> (2008) had hurt the company really badly. The Amitabh Bachchan-starrer had followed <em>Baabul</em> (2006) that too didn’t do quite well at the box office.

Rowdy Rathore sequel in Telugu announced

Signaling the making of a sequel of Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Rowdy Rathore in Hindi soon, the remake of the same in Telugu has been announced. The Hindi film, that was directed by Prabhudeva, was a remake of the Telugu Film <em>Vikramarkudu</em>. Sources have confirmed that the sequel to the Telugu version which was directed by S S Rajamouli would be made. It has also been confirmed that Rajamouli won’t be wearing the director’s cap; instead his assistant Koti will direct the film. The sequel would however be produced by Rajamouli.

Gear up for a funny ride...here comes sequel to Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron

Many movie buffs regard it as the funniest Hindi film ever. Now, Kundan Shah is ready to make a sequel to the zany timeless comedy <em>Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron</em> (JBDY) featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Baswani. Kundan says he has been toying with the idea of a sequel for some years now. The original film was released in 1983.With the passing away of Baswani, the idea seemed as good as dead. Then one heard that the sequel would feature a fresh young pair playing Naseer and Baswani’s roles.

Sudhir Mishra to make sequel of Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin

Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra will soon start making a sequel of his earlier 1996-made film Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin. Confirming the same, Mishra quipped, “We are making a sequel and are re-looking at the story. With the film, I want to get back to the space of thriller.” Reportedly, the sequel will have Chitrangda Singh, Irrfan Khan and Arunoday Singh.

Bipasha to join Deols for YPD sequel

It is known that the sequel of Yamla Pagla Deewana (YPD) is round the corner but what has just come to light is that Bipasha Basu is all set to join the Deoltrio - Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby. It has also been learnt that the Bengali seductress is being paired opposite Bobby Deol. Avers our source, “The Deols were looking for an appropriate actress and felt that Bipasha would fit the role perfectly. Regarding her role, she even met Bobby and Sunny recently. The dates have also been fixed and the <em>Raaz</em> 3 actress will start shooting for the film soon.”
