Actors have often praised filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya’s work ethic, which makes working with him a good experience. However, Sooraj shares that from someone who used to yell at his actors, he has now become a calm person on his movie sets.

Deepak Tijori, known for his roles in Aashiqui, Khiladi, and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, was almost cast as Prem in Maine Pyar Kiya before losing the role to Salman Khan.

After the blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Madhuri Dixit turned down Sooraj Barjatya's ensemble family drama, Hum Saath Saath Hain, explaining her reluctance to play Salman Khan's sister-in-law after their romantic pairing in the previous film.

With the 1989 movie Maine Pyaar Kiya, starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree, Sooraj made his directorial debut. Following its popularity, he directed the family comedy Hum Aapke Hai Koun, starring Madhuri Dixit and Salman. His reputation as a visionary filmmaker was cemented by these two movies.
