After roping in critically acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula to direct the remake of Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani for the South Indian market, Endemol India, Logline Productions Pvt. Ltd and Select Media Holdings Pvt Ltd have finally found their Vidya Bagchi in southern sensation Nayanthara. Starring as the female lead in several commercial films, Nayanthara has delivered super hit films across languages in the South. A director’s delight, this award winning actress is well known for her character-driven roles.

It’s news that Endemol India had acquired the remake rights of Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani for Tamil and Telugu about six months ago. After a brief lull, Endemol India and Select Media Holdings Pvt. Ltd, in their pursuance to go ahead with the remake of <em>Kahaani </em> in these two South Indian languages, have roped in critically acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula to direct the films for the South India market.

Twenty nine years after veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai made Hero that marked the debut film of Jackie Shroff, it is learnt that he is currently negotiating with a number of leading South Indian producers to have his films like <em>Karz</em> (1980), <em>Karma</em> (1986), <em>Aitraaz</em> (2004) and <em>Hero</em> remade in Tamil and Telugu. When we spoke to Ghai about the same, he softly replied, “Yes, we are in talks for the remakes of our films, but it’s too soon to come out with any details.” Looks like, he wants to talk about it only after everything is finalised.
