Change is the need of the hour, say TV celebs on Republic Day

It was on 26 January 1950, that the Constitution of India came into force. And today, we are celebrating the 64th year of being Republic. But, in spite of population explosion, there are a lot more laws and regulations that need to be brought in place. For, had that been the case something like the Delhi gang rape case would have never happened or we wouldn’t have read stories of rapes happening every other day in the papers. Moreover, we would have never been scared of our lawmakers more than the lawbreakers.

TV celebs wish Happy Makar Sankranti

The air might seem to sniff a little grim given the Delhi rape case incident last year (2012) and the mounting tension between India and Pakistan on the borders this year (2013). But wiping out clouds of grim and gloom, everyone seems to be coloured in the jubilant festival spirit of Makar Sankranti today (14 January 2013). The festival which marks the beginning of Indian harvest season, is also regarded as a very auspicious day in India’s over all cultural calendar.

Worried that humanity is coming to an end on Friday? Well, everyone around the world is. Since the last couple of days, buzz is high that the world would end, as per Mayan prophecy, on 21 December, 2012. On the other hand, another report says that there would be a total blackout throughout the world from 21 to 25 December because of change of planetary positions. Whatever be it…the situation certainly seems to be a little grim. While some people are scared, many brush this report off as another petty joke.

TV stars say "no" to crackers...

The Diwali season cannot be imagined without lighting of diyas, exchanging sweets, organizing a family get together and bursting crackers. But in recent years, the decibel level of crackers seem to be increasing that results in deafening noise and excessive smoke all around. That makes it very difficult for elderly people around to enjoy the festive season. Even for people who suffer from asthma, the smoke emitted from crackers is injurious. Not to mention, the nightmare for animals.
