MUMBAI : After a bumper opening, it was expected that Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu and Ajith Kumar starrer Thunivu will show a drop at the box office, but the drop is huge. However, the numbers are in double digits and it is expected that over the weekend it will once again show a jump.

Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu took a better opening at the box office and collected Rs. 26.70 crores on day one. The movie on day 2 has minted around Rs. 11.55 crore, taking the two days' total to Rs. 38.25 crores.

Ajith Kumar's Thunivu, which also stars Manju Warrior in the lead role, collected Rs. 24.40 crores at the box office on day 1. On day 2, it collected around Rs. 11.80 crores, taking the two-day collection to Rs. 36.20 crores.

Both the movies have surprisingly done badly on the second day and over the weekend the film needs a huge jump at the box office. If the jump is not there over the weekend, the movies will flop at the box office.

Meanwhile, today, Varisu also releases in Hindi, and tomorrow it will be hitting the big screens in Telugu. So, let's wait and watch what response the movie will get at the box office in the Hindi and Telugu markets. Thalapathy Vijay's Beast and Master, both had not received a great response in Hindi. So, it will be interesting to see if Varisu Hindi will get the audiences to theatres.

MUMBAI: It was the clash of the titans at the box office in Kollywood. Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu were released together on 11th January 2023. Everyone was keen to know which film would get a bumper opening at the box office. Well, both the movies received a fantastic response on day one, but Varisu has taken a better start.

Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. But, still, on day one the film collected Rs. 26.70 crores at the box office. It is expected that the movie will show a drop in collection after a bumper start, but soon it will be Pongal weekend, so we can expect it to show a jump at the box office.

Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu also took a bumper start and minted Rs. 24.40 crores at the box office on day one. The reviews for Thunivu have been better, but the first-day collection is a bit less than Varisu. However, let’s wait and watch which movie will have a better run at the box office in the coming days.

Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu might also get a bit upper hand in the coming days as the film will also release in Telugu (14th January) and Hindi (13th January). Meanwhile, fans of Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar are celebrating the release of their favorite stars’ films like a festival.
