Aatish Kapadia who pens the highly popular daily soap Baa Bahu Aur Baby of Hats Off Productions, has crossed a milestone in his scripting career. Apparently news has it that he has crossed the 1700 episode mark, which comprises 1000 odd episodes of Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, and the rest scored for Khichdi, Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai and Baa bahu Aur Baby together. And it goes without saying; all three serials have been primetime success stories!

He says, "I attribute my success to Mahendra Joshi who has been my mentor. He taught me the basics of theatre, when I began my career 18 years ago. I began writing for tv only about ten years ago. I find it very challenging to create characters in the soaps for which I seek inspiration from people I meet on the sets on the road. I try to understand people, their real selfs and their three dimensional lives. I have to work really hard on my craft," he says.
Aatish is not only a writer, director and co producer of Baa Bahu Aur Baby but also a talented actor. When asked about the reason he refrains from acting he says, "I'm a very impatient person, I would do some short appearances in Khichdi when I was also directing the same. However I would get bored waiting for my shot or just hate to put make up for my scene, being a director I had the liberty to chop off my scene. But I have been contemplating to start acting again."
