Abhishek Malhan breaks silence on rift with Jiya Shankar: ‘Woke up one morning and saw it all changed’

Abhishek Malhan and Jiya Shankar’s bond was one of the most cherished friendships to emerge from Bigg Boss OTT 2, capturing the hearts of viewers across the country. However, a few months ago, cracks began to appear, and what was once a close and admired connection gradually came to an end, leaving fans disappointed and wondering what went wrong.

MUMBAI: Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 gave fans not just drama and entertainment but also a heart-warming bond between contestants Jiya Shankar and Abhishek Malhan.

Their camaraderie became one of the season’s highlights, winning the affection of viewers who eagerly rooted for their friendship—and perhaps, something more.

As the show progressed, Jiya openly admitted to having developed feelings for Abhishek and expressed a desire to get to know him better outside the Bigg Boss house.

However, Abhishek had made it clear that he saw her purely as a friend. Their dynamic was so engaging that even host Salman Khan playfully teased the duo about their closeness during the show’s finale.

While Abhishek finished the season as the first runner-up, Jiya’s journey ended just a week before the grand finale.

Despite this, the two remained on good terms after the show, much to the delight of their fans who continued to hope for a reunion, onscreen or otherwise.

However, it now appears that the once-strong bond has faded. Speculation about a fallout began when fans noticed that Jiya and Abhishek had unfollowed each other on social media and had stopped engaging publicly.

Addressing the matter in a recent interview, Abhishek shed light on their strained relationship. “One morning I noticed that I had unfollowed her, though I honestly don’t recall doing it myself,” he said. “I’m not sure what exactly happened or what led to it. We hadn’t been talking much, but when I heard her mother was unwell, I reached out to her and tried to be there in whatever way I could.”

He went on to add, “Interestingly, my mother and her mum still speak and share a warm friendship. But unfortunately, things between Jiya and me aren’t the same anymore.”

Though their connection was once cherished by audiences, it seems that the bond between the two stars has quietly drifted apart. While fans may be disappointed, Abhishek’s honest remarks bring clarity to the silence that had surrounded their relationship of late.
