MUMBAI: Writer Agastaya Jain shared that he entered the field of writing because he was always curious about how a story was developed. He added that he has learned a lot from every project.
“I was always an inquisitive viewer who wanted to understand why someone wrote a character or a story in a particular way. I researched the references or reasons behind it. I think that’s what excited me to write as well. The one basic insight, which is common to everyone, is how beautifully—and without being preachy—a writer can communicate it,” he says.
He has been creatively associated with projects such as Meri Durga, Tu Chal Pudhe, Radha Krishna, and Qayamat Ki Raat. “I’ve learned from every project, but the most exciting one was Radha Krishna. Not just because I have a deep interest in mythology, but also because of its canvas, music, relatability to today’s world, and the wonderful writing that touched millions across the country,” he says.
He is also a writer, creator, and creative producer of the forthcoming TV show Bas Itna Sa Khwaab. He says that the project is very special. “The show is based on a very simple insight: insaan umar dekhta hai, sapna sirf jazba! You don’t know how strong you are until being strong is the only option. Sometimes life throws us into the most difficult situations to bring out the best in us. We may not realize it initially,” he says.
The writer adds that content is king, no matter what else you add to a show. “No grandeur or big actor can make a show successful unless the content is right. Look at films like Laapata Ladies—there's no big actor, but the film has done wonderfully well,” he says.
