MUMBAI: The latest TRP ratings released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) have painted an intriguing picture of Indian television this week, with a blend of surprising shake-ups and promising new entries.
Making a powerful debut, Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad has stormed into the top five most-watched shows in its very first week—an impressive feat that has left both fans and industry insiders talking. The show's immediate success indicates a strong viewer connection and sets the stage for what could be a consistent run at the top.
Meanwhile, long-running favourites Bhagya Lakshmi and Jaane Anjaane Hum Mile have witnessed a notable rise in their ratings, reflecting renewed interest in their evolving storylines.
On the flip side, several popular shows have taken an unexpected hit. Laughter Chef, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, and KumKum Bhagya all saw significant dips in their weekly ratings, signalling a shift in audience preferences and the fierce competition for prime-time viewership.
At the very top, Anupamaa continues its winning streak, retaining its throne as the most-watched show across Indian households. Hot on its heels are Udne Ki Aasha and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, followed by the ever-popular Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and the newly-entered Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad, rounding off the top five.
With such dynamic movements across the board, this week’s ratings serve as a reminder of the unpredictable and fast-paced nature of television entertainment in India. All eyes will now be on whether the newcomers can sustain their momentum and how the established giants plan to reclaim lost ground.
