MUMBAI: In the recent episode of Bigg Boss 14 we saw Jaan Kumar Sanu asking fellow inmate Nikki Tamboli to not speak in Marathi with him. 

In a heated exchange of words, Jaan had told Nikki, "Marathi mei mat baat kar, mere saamne mat baat kar, meko chid hoti hai. Sunaauga teko, mere saamne Marathi mei mat baat kar. Dum hai toh Hindi mei bol warna mat baat kar, chid machti hai meko." 

Post this fiasco, both Shiv Sena and MNS threatened both Jaan and Colors TV of dire consequences if they don't render an immediate apology. 

Therefore, Colors TV's official page issued an immediate apology statement to them on the very day while we saw Jaan apologising for hurting their sentiments in the next episode of BB 14. 

Now, Jaan's father and Bollywood legendary singer Kumar Sanu took to his Twitter handle to share a video, wherein he was seen apologising to the State of Maharashtra and acknowledged his son's mistake by passing derogatory comments against the Marathi language. 

But what really shocked us was that while defending Jaan's actions, he further went on to blame his ex-wife for Jaan’s ‘upbringing’. He revealed that he has been separated from Jaan and his mother for the last 27 years and it is due to his ex-wife's upbringing that their son does not think before making such remarks on a show.

In a video shared by Kumar Sanu, he recalls how he has sung in the Marathi language before and has been respecting all the languages equally. 

He also highlighted how he had collaborated with Balasaheb Thackeray in the past and is forever grateful for his lifetime achievements post-settling down in Mumbai.

Talking to us exclusively on the controversy which took place Jaan's mother Rita Bhattacharya had mentioned, "I really want to request people to keep it like a game and not drag it outside. In yesterday's episode, when Rahul, Nikki and Jaan were together in the red zone that time Rahul and Nikki were communicating something in Marathi which my son didn't understand, so in return he told Nikki "Aap Marathi mein baat mat karo.", kyunki use lagaa they are talking something against him. I just want them to see the situation and then come to a conclusion. How can we insult Maharashtra or Marathi language? We have been staying in Maharashtra for 35 years. This state has given Jaan's father Kumar Sanu so much love and respect. My family and I are really disturbed because of such things. It's a cosmopolitan game which gets telecasted internationally, so if they won't speak in Hindi, there are chances many people will not understand. And that's why makers keep telling them to speak only in Hindi. I don't understand why this big issue is being created out of it. Recently, my son was accused by Rahul Vaidya for nepotism on national television. At that time no one questioned about that or showed any kind of support to my kid. All the efforts and achievements were taken away from Jaan with one sentence.".
