The word Cadbury sends us on a journey that is filled with sweetness and alacrity. Yes, the mere mention of Cadbury waters our mouth and gives us a feeling as if splurging into a river of ecstasy. Now, as we all know… Cadbury Company has gone for a name change and henceforth will be known as Mondelez. So will the name change bring in a dip in popularity or people are flexible enough to accept it. Let’s find out what TV stars have to say about it… Bold and gorgeous Sara Khan, who loves chocolate and in a recent interview with Tellychakkar.com said that she wishes to fill the entire world with teddy bears and chocolates, states, “How sad… this is my first reaction. From my childhood I have loved this chocolate and it is very difficult to accept this name and obviously my perception will also change now. Cadbury is liked by everyone across ages, be it a small kid or an old man…but I think people will take time to relate to the change.” The regal princess Priyal Gor aka Manyata, who was last seen in Sony Entertainment Television’s Dekha Ek Khwab shares, “Well… I didn’t know about the name change and it will be hard for people to use the name Mondelez instead of Cadbury as we are used to the term by now.” Handsome hunk Kushal Tandon aka Virat from Ek Hazaroon Mein Meri Behna, says, “It’s a foolish idea to change the name. It’s been a big brand over these years and how can they take such a step. Whoever is the owner I think it’s a very bad initiative. If I go to any shop and ask them for Cadbury and in return he gives me the chocolate called Mondelez then I won’t even try it.” “I don’t eat chocolates, so it doesn’t matter to me but good for them and all the very best on the initiative,” opines Hiten Tejwani who is seen as Manav in Zee TV’s Pavitra Rishta. TV heartthrob Shaheer Sheikh, who became a household name with his last show Navya, shares, “First of all I had no idea about it. It is a shock which I am not able to digest. Cadbury is synonymous with chocolates. I don’t know why they had to do this. I think the only advertisements I liked for these years are of Cadbury. They always come up with unique concepts. I still remember that one ad in which one lady comes dancing on the cricket field with a Cadbury in her hand to celebrate the winning shot of the batsman. So all I can say is that it’s a flop idea.” Finally, Rashmi Desai ends the conversation by stating, “From childhood we have become used to the word Cadbury. But I think it is a process of evolution…and the new name may bring in new surprises. All the best to them.” PS- After reading the news, officials from Cadbury India got in touch with us and shared this bit of info. As of now, Cadbury and name of its products will not change. Here goes the statement.. "On October 1, 2012, Kraft Foods Inc. split into two companies: Mondel?z International and Kraft Foods Group Inc. The Cadbury business in India will now be part of Mondel?z International, the global snacking powerhouse. For now, the name of the company in India will continue to remain Cadbury India Ltd. There will be no change whatsoever in the brand names of any of our products in India. Our beloved brands like Cadbury Dairy Milk, 5 Star, Gems, Bournvita, Tang and Oreo will continue to create magic amongst our consumers in India as before."
