Debina Bonnerjee has grown as an actor

Debina Bonnerjee (Mayuri)
Debina Bonnerjee, popularly known as Sita from Imagine’s Ramayan, is quite happy with the way her SAB TV sitcom, Chidiya Ghar is doing. “We are rating 1.9 TVR, which is a dream for many TV shows, nowadays,” Debina smiles. But initially, she was very skeptical about the series. “Honestly, when I first signed Chidiya Ghar, I didn’t know how this comedy show will stand out on a comedy channel like SAB. But I made up my mind to give it my best shot, and leave the rest to the future,” reveals the actress. And now her efforts are paying off well. “My work has been appreciated by one and all. Just a few days back, in a New Year party, many of my industry friends came up to me and said that they love the way my character Mayuri nods her head tick-tick. And coming at a time when there are myriad show on air and actors do not get noticed at all, it was a big complement,” beams Debina. In fact, she is also very satisfied with the way, public has come to appreciate Chidiya Ghar: “I guess what has helped our show work with the audiences is the team effort. Our producer-director Ashwini Dheer is a veteran and has the potential to completely change the script when on sets. Not only this, the script ends up looking much better on screen than what was originally written.” And that is not it; Debina feels that Ashwini is helping her grow as an actor. “I feel that I have grown as an actor by keeping up to speed with him. I am also having a wonderful time working with experienced co-stars like Paresh Ganatra and Rajendra Gupta. These guys are past masters in the craft and along with them I am able to push the envelope,” she adds. While Chidiya Ghar has managed to showcase Debina’s talent as an actor, Zee TV’s singing reality show Star Ya Rockstar didn’t help the actress prove her singing abilities. And she is also a bit disappointed at herself for her early elimination: “Apart from the fact that I got my song very late, I do feel that if I had paid more attention to singing during my childhood the result would have been very different.” Incidentally, during Debina’s childhood her mom appointed singing teachers for her at home, but the TV actor always made excuses and ran away. But now she has learnt her lesson. “I have promised myself that I will teach my children singing, dancing and all other art forms; you never know what will come handy later in life, ” ends Debina.
