Mata Ki Chowki, a fiction cum mythological has found its lead actors. Shantipriya, the South Indian film actress will debut on the small screen with her role as Mata Vaishnodevi. She has also acted in a few Hindi films like Ikke pe Ikka and Saugandh. And Muskaan Arora and Rahul Raj Singh have been roped in to play the other leads. “We did some extensive searching for the leads. After auditioning a number of people we finalised on Shantipriya, Rahul and Muskaan,” says Siddhart Kumar Tewary ,Creative Director and Producer of Swastik Pictures. “We took auditions for the role of Mata. Being from the south, Shantipriya fitted in this character with her big eyes and sharp features that we needed for mata. This will be her first television serial.” Rahul was last seen in Amber Dhara playing the role of blind Kunal. “In this show I essay the role of Vansh. This character is much similar to Hrithik Roshan’s in Lakshya who doesn’t know what he wants from life. Vansh just follows whatever his dad orders him,” states Rohit. “In the coming episodes Vansh is forced to marry a girl who he doesn’t love. But as dad says yeh mata ki marzi hai I go ahead with the proposal and marry Vaishnavi (Muskaan Arora). Later I go on and achieve my goals in life,” he adds. It has been reported that Rahul has got some offers from Star Plus which he has refused. “Currently I want to be with Swastik Pictures as it is like working with family,” he says. Muskaan was last seen in Sony’s Thodi Khushi Thode Gham. She essayed the role of Pranav’s (Amit Jain) sister. The shooting of the show is currently on in Bhaderwah in Kashmir. “It’s a beautiful place about 200km away from Jammu. We wanted a scenic place where the mountains are covered with snow. This is the only place which has snow during summer,” avers Siddharth. Mona Ambegaonkar is roped in for a cameo. She’ll be seen in four episodes only. It’s good to know that more and more big screen actors are finding their calling on the small screen. TV has evolved as a powerful new medium.
