Wedding Fashion: TV's Leading Ladies Give Tips to Style It Up

To be stylish, is your birth right. To be fashionable is uber cool. And after basking in the summer trends, it’s time to deck up for the exotic and magnificent wedding season. Bid adieu to your flowy cotton dresses, flip flops and bring out the gorgeous anarkalis, lehengas and churidars. Top it with classy jewellery and suave bags, you are ready and steady to stab hearts with that ooh la la look.

And surprise surprise… we spoke to your favourite leading ladies of Indian television and asked them for some style tips for the wedding season. Let’s check out what they had to say.

Adaa Khan- Weddings are fascinating. I usually prefer a saree or a anarkali. I match it with high heels for it brings elegance to the overall look but I avoid carrying a clutch or a handbag. When it comes to jewellery, I love the bling of diamonds, always my style. And talking about shopping destination, malls are always good but online offers are also very enticing at times.I love the ‘buy one get one free offer’. Well, weddings are all about happiness, excitement, dancing and enjoying. So enjoy and be stylish.

Delnaaz Irani- For me it’s either a saree or an anarkali with a classy Indian sandal. Nothing beats it. Jewellery should be light and clutches add to the overall look. I think weddings are very special and one should shop from the right place to pick up the right dress. Talking about bride’s look, for me red and gold are the colours that suit the most. And the groom should go for chic western formals.

Dimple Jhangiani- I am attending a destination wedding on 26, 27 and 28 December. The theme is called ‘lesser the hotter’, as people from abroad are also coming, so it will be a western wedding. I have decided to wear 6 inch pencil heels with junk bracelets and a thin chain. I love shopping and when it comes to online choices, I am a Sindhi and I love discounts. If I get a flat 70% or 90% off, I will probably end up buying everything (laughs). Now, let me tell you that I love designs of Manish Malhotra and Shubika Sharma. Weddings are fun and a great opportunity to look good and sexy.

Giaa Maanek- I love weddings. I am attending three this season, one Maharashtrian, one Punjabi and one Sindhi. I will wear three different attires…a saree, a lehenga and an anarkali. Talking about footwear, I prefer platform heels because it’s easy to dance and move around. Complementing that would be a clutch with a long chain. The USP of Indian weddings are the families which are close knitted and there is great understanding between all. If a person wants to know about Indian culture then he should definitely attend an Indian wedding.

Kishwer Merchantt- I recently attended my boyfriend Suyyash’s (Kumar) sister’s wedding. I usually prefer to wear a lehenga or an anarkali. Footwear would be pump sandals as they look elegant and classy. Long earrings also add to the overall look. When I keep busy shooting, I buy clothes online and opt for the buy one get one free offer. Once I attended a destination wedding in Goa and it was a superb affair. Weddings are all about good dresses, good food, bonding and love.

Ragini Khanna- Indian wear with high heels sandals is what I wear. A clutch would add to the look. For jewellery I like gold over diamonds. My favourite designers are Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Now for a bride, I feel the colour red suits the best. And personally, I love beach weddings.

Rubina Dilaik- Ahh, talking about weddings, I like Indian ethnic wear like a saree and a ground length anarkali with pencil heels. I would love to carry a clutch as well. I don’t like wearing jewellery and like keeping it simple. Furthermore, the colour that suits an Indian bride best would be pearl white or a combination of maroon and gold. Talking about trends, in winter, layer dresses look beautiful and in summer bright colours look good. If I had to pick, then I would say that beach weddings rock.

Surbhi Jyoti- Recently, I attended the wedding of one of my close friends. I wore a saree. Furthermore, I like wearing bracelets. And when it comes to purchasing I prefer online shopping and shop very often. I like the buy one get one free offer. Now in a wedding, a groom looks the best in Achkan with Dhoti. Weddings are all about different rituals and happiness.
