10 BEST Amitabh Bachchan movies

10 BEST Amitabh Bachchan movies
Amitabh Bachchan is perhaps the only actor in Bollywood who in all true sense can be called a 'superstar actor'. While we have superstars like the Khans and actors like Irrfan Khan, Kay Kay Menon, no one comes close to combining superlative acting skills with unmatched super stardom like Amitabh Bachchan, precisely the reason why he is widely regarded as the finest actor of the Indian film industry today. As the legend turns 72 today, we take a look at 10 of his most memorable movies. Sholay - Movie's like Sholay come once in a blue moon. The movie epitomised all the best aspects of Indian filmmaking. Best actors, best dialogues, best director, best villain, best songs. Amitabh and Dharmendra's bromance gave India its first true box-office superhit. The movie has been etched in the annals of Bollywood history as the best movie to have ever been made. Zanjeer - India was going through its toughest political period with the common man looking for an outlet to vent their collective anger. Amitabh Bachchan provided them a cinematic answer by imbibing their spirit so well to earn the moniker of 'angry young man'. This was also Bachchan’s first solo hit Deewar - Mere paas bangla hai, gaadi hai, bank balance hain...tumhare paas kya hai..The iconic dialogue still reverberates in current times whenever the movie is played on channels. The movie saw the birth of anti-hero in Hindi cinema and Amitabh's baritone ruled supreme in the movie. Aaj khush to bahut honge tum has formed fodder of hundreds of comedians in India. Abhimaan - Realism at its best, Amitabh brilliantly portrayed the hatred and jealousy experienced by a husband who finds himself outclass and outshined by his talented wife. The songs of the movie made it more memorable as did the chemistry between Amitabh and Jaya. Anand - The movie belonged to superstar Rajesh Khanna but Amitabh who was relatively new in the industry held his own with his powerful screen presence that shone despite the overpowering presence of Rajesh Khanna. The final sequence when Amitabh weeps after Rajesh' death is one of the most poignant and moving moments ever to have been conceived in Indian cinema. The movie also clinched him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Amar Akbar Anthony - Amitabh is one of those rare actors who excelled in multi starrers. As the tall, lanky and handsome catholic Anthony Gonsalves, Amitabh delighted one and all with his innate comic timing. The movie also helped him win something that was long overdue - Filmfare Award for best actor. Kabhi Kabhi - Just when the angry young man image was getting a bit too monotonous, Amitabh displayed his versatility and turned tables by the playing the quintessential romantic hero with great élan. One of Yash Chopra's finest classics till date, Kabhi Kabhi regaled audience with breath taking locales of Kashmir and fine romance displayed between the lead pair- Amitabh and Rakhee. Silsila - Amitabh and Rekha's last onscreen union resulted in Silsila. Do we need to say more? Mohabbatein - This movie has been listed here only because it resurrected Amitabh's career after the financial tough times he went through due to bankruptcy. Yash Chopra gifted his Amitabh the role of an angry old disciplinarian principal of Gurukul and Amitabh successfully kickstarted his second innings in Bollywood. Paa and Black - We have combined Paa and Black because these two movie shorn of the clichéd Bollywood commercial entertainment showcases the real range of Amitabh's acting histrionics proving yet again why no one from our industry can match him when it comes to pure acting talent.
