About eight years ago, on Diwali, Bollywood came face to face with three talented and gorgeous new comers with Saawariya and Om Shanti Om. While two belonged from the film family and debuted against each other, the third one was as non-filmy as they come.

Yes, we are talking about Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor. The trio has a lot more in common than their relationship status with one another.

Apart from the fact that Ranbir and Deepika dated for a while, Sonam and Ranbir allegedly had an affair during their movie, and Sonam and Deepika both took pot shots at Ranbir, the three started their careers in the same year.

Let’s take a look at their lives in the industry in these years…

Ranbir Kapoor:
The Kapoor scion, with his famous surname and promising acting genes, made a splash with his debut flick, Saawariya. Despite the movie bombing at the BO, he was noticed. He followed it up with killer performances in Wake Up Sid, Rockstar, Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. His graph took a sudden fall with duds like Besharam, Roy and Bombay Velvet. Once hailed the superstar to look forward to, the Kapoor boy was almost on the verge of being written off. But all that’s going to change with his upcoming movies Tamasha, Jagga Jasoos and Aye Dil Hai Mushkil. With talent, looks and fame, it was but natural for him to have a rocking love life. From Deepika to current toast Katrina Kaif, his life has been an open book.

Deepika Padukone:
She hit the jackpot with her maiden movie itself. Debuting opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, the leggy lass was appreciated for her statuesque beauty, deep dimples and stunning eyes. Even though most critics didn’t expect the former model to act, she followed her debut blockbuster with massive hits like Cocktail, Race, Chennai Express, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela. With each movie, her fan following shot up. Just when we were thinking of her movies as massy, she gave us Piku. Nothing seems to be stopping the beauty as she has Tamasha opposite ex-lover Ranbir and Bajirao Mastani with current beau Ranveer Singh in her kitty this year. Looks like she is here for the big innings.

Sonam Kapoor:
Her ethereal beauty may have been the talk of the town post Saawariya’s release, but somehow, her movies following movies failed to sizzle at the screens. But that didn’t deter the high priestess of fashion from trying out every genre. With her diverse roles in hits like Delhi 6, I Hate Luv Storys, Khoobsurat, Aisha and Raanjhana, she’s made a name for herself in the industry. Her on-point fashion sense may precede her acting chops, but all that will change with her upcoming biopic on Neerja Bhanot. She is also the only one from the trio to have a big Diwali release this year in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with Salman Khan. We can’t measure the successes of these stars, but we can surely wish them luck for years to come.
