MUMBAI : Tusshar Kapoor starrer Maarrich has hit the big screens. The film also stars Anita Hassanandani Reddy, Seerat Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, and Rahul Dev. Tusshar plays the role of a cop in it, and after a long gap people have seen him in a serious role.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Tusshar Kapoor and spoke to him about serious roles, Golmaal 5, The Dirty Picture 2, and more…

You have earlier played serious roles in Khakee, Shootout series and other movies. But, then we don’t get to see you much playing serious characters. Do filmmakers don’t approach you with such roles or you are choosy?

I have to be choosy because in today’s time you can’t afford to make blunders. Even if you have to do different roles, it has to be good. So, I was waiting for something good and entertaining. When I heard the script of Maarrich in 2021, I liked it, and then I read it and made others also read it as it was a risk to get out of my comfort zone. Whenever I have taken such challenges it has paid off for me whether it’s the Shootout series, Khakee, The Dirty Picture, or Shor In The City.

There have been reports about Golmaal 5 and The Dirty Picture 2, do you have any update about it?

I have not heard about The Dirty Picture 2 at all. This is the first time I am hearing about it. Golmaal 5 obviously everyone knows that it will be made, but when it will be made only Rohit knows, and I am sure he will announce it, when he is ready. He has been telling me that he is working on it, so I am even curious to know when that happens.

What’s happening next as a producer and as an actor?

As a producer I will take some time off as the situation right now is very unpredictable. As an actor, I have said yes to a couple of scripts; there’s a horror-comedy, then there’s a web show, a remake of an international thriller. It takes time to get a green light and then go on the floors. So, waiting for that to happen!
