Debuting opposite Naseeruddin Shah was super exciting, says Ruchi Malviya

It's not every day that you get a chance to make your acting debut with a scene opposite Naseeruddin Shah. It was a dream come true for PR professional turned actor Ruchi Malviya when she bagged a role in her first film opposite one of India's finest actors in Dharam Sankat. In the movie, Ruchi will be seen playing the role of a MBA graduate who attends the Satsang of Neelanand Baba (Naseeruddin Shah) to seek his blessings in getting a good job. Attracted to her youthful beauty, Neelanand Baba promptly calls her on stage to bless her and offers her the chance to serve him and his ashram. Talking about her experience of working opposite Naseeruddin Shah, Ruchi says, "I couldn't ask for anything bigger than sharing the screen space with Naseeruddin Shah in my very first movie. It was a very good experience. Even during the rehearsals he used to be amazingly good. It was a wonderful experience to just share the stage with such a versatile actor." Interestingly, Ruchi was not informed beforehand that her scene would be opposite Naseeruddin Shah. "My friend who is an Assistant Director had called me for the auditions. After I got selected, I was not initially told about Naseer sir and it is only when I was doing the lines that I was briefed that my role would be with him and I was super excited." Ask her if she could exchange any acting notes with the veteran actor and Ruchi says, "Not really. I didn't mean to intrude when he was busy rehearsing." For the moment, Ruchi is keen on grabbing more meaty roles in Bollywood and is also not averse to doing good roles in television as well. "I basically focusing on feature films but am also open to good offers from television and down south as well. But my dream role is to do an action packed sequence something that Scarlett Johansson is famous for in Hollywood. I feel I have an agile body to pull off something like that." Are bold roles and intimate scenes an acceptable proposition, we ask. "It depends. If being bold is a genuine need of the script and the movie belongs to a reputed banner, I won't mind," says Ruchi before signing off.
