MUMBAI: Powerhouse director, screenwriter & producer Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming romantic drama- film Jalebi is slated to release next week starring the upcoming faces from the younger lot. This film also marks the debut of television actress Digangana Suryavanshi who's started at a very young age & will have two of her Bollywood movies release the same day before her 21st birthday.
The trailer creates curiosity about her role but without spilling the beans, Digangana reveals her role is pivotal to the story line. She recalls how she bagged the film & shares her first meeting with Mahesh Bhatt, 'Fryday happened pretty quick, I got a call that I was on board on basis of an audition few years ago. When I'd begun shooting, I got a call for Jalebi, though this time I had to give an audition, the role demanded conviction, I remember Bhattji was in other room with a monitor watching the audition, he asked to see me & said that it was the best thing he'd seen in a while & that I fit in the shoes of the character perfectly. I was overwhelmed.'
Mahesh Bhatt talks about his find, 'Digangana came as a sparkling brook into Jalebi. She just dazzled me with her scenes being fresh & with no prior reference to her acting. She's a talent one needs to look out for.'
It'll be interesting to watch Digangana who's touted as the princess of television, to see her in an altogether different avatar.
