MUMBAI:Kajol will next be seen in Salaam Venky which also stars Vishal Jethwa in the lead role. The film is directed by Revathy, and Aamir Khan has a cameo in it. Salaam Venky is slated to hit the big screens on 9th December 2022.

What was that one thing that made you say yes to Salaam Venky?

Actually, I had decided that I don’t want to do the film. When I read the concept note, I called Reavthy and said that I deeply respect you, and I know you are going to make a very good film. But, I am not doing your film. But, she said at least hear the script. She then came to the office and narrated the script. I had watched her film Phir Milenge, and at that time I thought that it was a fabulously balanced film and very nicely put together. It was a wonderfully made film. I thought to myself at that time if I ever get a chance to work with her, I would jump on it. After hearing the script, I told her that I loved it. But, I was still hesitating as it was about mother and son, and something happening to the son. However, I thought that if because of that one fear I don’t do this film I will regret it for the rest of my life. So, then I was like I will not let fear control my actions.

Kamal Sadanah was your first co-star in Bekhudi. How was it to meet him on the sets after 30 years?

When I met him it was an amazing feeling because in these 30 years of course we have met at some event or function. It’s not that I haven’t met him. I know what’s happening in his life, and he knows what is happening in mine. But, to see somebody on set after so long, it was just the timing of it that I had done my first film with him, and now, I am completing 30 years and coming with Salaam Venky. I can’t get into details of what he is playing in the film, but I can say it was surreal.

How was your experience of working with Aamir Khan again?

Aamir was as usual amazing to work with. We are working together after Fanaa. But, we keep meeting much more often than me and Kamal. I respect Aamir because he has managed to keep his interest, enthusiasm, and his perfectionism intact.
