Neetu Chandra plays an Indian goddess in Greek film Block 12

Neetu Chandra
After having acted in films in Hindi and several regional films including those in Bhojpuri, Tamil and Telugu, Neetu Chandra has debuted in a Greek film titled Block 12. Observed Neetu on the sidelines of the ongoing IFFI where her film was screened, "This script was written five years ago; this is my first international film in which I play an Indian goddess. It's a beautiful love story." Block 12 is based on the issue of how big powers manipulate the resources and people of the country. The film is a political, allegorical comedy with plenty of surrealism, social satire and magical realism. Interestingly, Neetu plays an Indian Goddess of Love in the film. To a query about the difference she found in filmmaking in India and Greece, the 29-year-old actress quipped, "Every industry has its own ups and downs but people over there are much disciplined. They start their shoot on time. But the film industry in India is much richer than their Greek counterpart." Director Tofaridez said that he chose Chandra after recommendations from his Indian co-producers. "My co-producers, who are in India, suggested me the names of some actresses; I ended up selecting Neetu after the audition," he said. Comparing Greek films to our films, the Cyprus-born director said that in comparison to Greek films, India produces many films on diversified issues.
