MUMBAI : Actor Mushtaq Khan recently talked about his experience working with Rajesh Khanna. Khan has appeared in movies such Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Mann, Akele Hum Akele Tum, and Welcome. In an interview with a YouTube channel, Mushtaq remembered his collaborations with Kaka during the height of his fame and in one of his final projects, some decades later. By the end, the actor had become less famous, according to Mushtaq.

Mushtaq told, “I worked with Rajesh Khanna at the height of his stardom.” He talked about Rajesh, Shabana Azmi, and Padmini Kolhapure in the 1980 movie Thodisi Bewafaii. He remembered, “You can’t believe how it was. I would think to myself that I’m working with Rajesh Khanna.”

Subsequently, Mushtaq talked about collaborating with the actor in the latter stages of his career in the Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein movie from 2010. “I worked with the same Rajesh Khanna a few years before he passed away in a film called Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein. It was totally different. Nobody was there, nobody. This is life, this is (film) industry and you have to accept it. This is the same with everyone,” he stated.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Rajesh Khanna was one of the nation's biggest stars. He held the record for most consecutive hits starred in at one time, fifteen. However, Rajesh's fame suffered when Amitabh Bachchan overtook him in the middle of the 1970s. In his career, the actor was unable to return to that degree of prominence.

Dimple Kapadia, Rajesh's wife, discussed the actor's emotional toll from the setback in a previous conversation. “When a successful man goes to pieces, his frustration engulfs the entire surroundings. It was a pathetic sight when Rajesh waited at the end of the week for collection figures but the people didn’t have the guts to come and tell him,” she said. In 2012, Rajesh Khanna passed away.
