Amitabh Bachchan remembers mother on her birth anniversary

On the birth anniversary of his late mother Teji Bachchan on Sunday, megastar Amitabh Bachchan got nostalgic and recalled his fondest memories of her.

He penned an emotional note on his blog in which he mentioned how his mother helped him in stepping into the world of theatre.

He wrote, "...she introduced me to theatre, films and music and to ballroom dancing. She took me to the floor at Gaylords, that popular restaurant in Connaught Place, Delhi, one evening. She sacrificed her all to give my father his space and time... knowing how valuable it would be for a poet, a thinker and philosopher to be so."

Along with the heartfelt post, the 75-year-old actor posted some unseen old photographs of his mother, brother Ajitabh Bachchan and other family members.

"Finding my brother and me on the victory podium in the topmost stand at the school athletics meet, she would pull out that box camera, take photographs and decorate her bedroom with all the winning cups I won," the post read.

The actor concluded his post on an emotional note by saying, "I have just her memories with me, nothing material. But for me, that is more than any else."

On the work front, Amitabh, who had garnered positive reviews for his film 102 Not Out, is currently busy shooting for his next movie titled Brahmastra.

Ian Bishop one of my all-time favourite players: SRK

Happy with A certificate for 'Satyameva Jayate': Nikkhil Advani

Producer Nikkhil Advani says the 'A' certificate for Milap Zaveri's anti-corruption film Satyameva Jayate is most welcome. The violence, the CBFC felt, was "extremely relevant".

"The Adults certificate for our film is most welcome. My co-producers T-Series and I are very happy with it. In fact, the members of the censor board recommended that we take the ‘A' certificate to avoid any cuts. The violence, they felt, was extremely relevant and not at all gratuitous," said Advani.

However, most producers prefer to make the cuts rather than limit their audience with an ‘A' certificate.

Not the producers and director of Satyameva Jayate.

"T-Series and I spoke to our director Milap Zaveri. We wanted an Adults certification because it is not a film for the young or the squeamish. It is a violent and brutal film as it blows the lid off corruption.

"We wanted to make a hard-hitting statement and we wanted to provide a solution to corruption. It may not be everybody's cup of tea. But like I said, Satyameva Jayate is not for those who cannot digest violence," said Advani.

He doesn't feel his film is limited by the violence.

"Not at all. In fact, I want to thank the CBFC for suggesting we take an ‘A' with no cuts. It is very liberating for us to go with an ‘Adults' certificate in the theatres. Satyameva Jayate is a film for adults. But the violence is remedial in a society that has sickened."

Dia Mirza launches 'wild anthem'

Actress-producer Dia Mirza, also an activist for the clean and green environment, on Sunday unveiled a 'wild anthem' titled "Mere desh ki zameen".

Singers Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Benny Dayal, Vishal Dadlani and Clinton Cerejo have lent their voices for the song.

"This was my dream. To give India a 'wild anthem', a song that would be a celebration of all that is most incredible about our home, our land," Dia, a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador, said in a statement.

Prasoon Joshi has penned the lyrics of the song that celebrates India's biodiversity by showcasing visuals of animals in the video of the track.

"At times, we take the most important things in our life for granted and they almost merge in the everyday backdrop. We forget to count our blessings and feel the sense of gratitude for them. The same is true about our wildlife and this anthem tries to strike that chord with all of us reminding us about how Mother Nature has bestowed her love upon us," Joshi said.

Shreya has urged people to protect the wildlife.

She said, "We are so blessed to be born in a country which has the most beautiful and magical wildlife in the entire world. The variety is simply incredible. They truly are wonders of nature and we must do everything in our capacity to protect them from any harm."

Sunidhi, who had earlier sung a song against the use of plastic, said that as a new mother herself, she hopes her child grows to witness the beauty and splendor of wild India and an incredible planet.

According to Benny, aggressive wildlife conservation is the need of the hour.

The singer of "Kaise mujhe" fame said, "This is the most important initiative of today. To live harmoniously alongside the wildlife of our country is a necessity. This is not our space. It's their space we are living in. Hence, we must respect their existence to the utmost."

Clinton has sung and also composed "Mere desh ki zameen", a collaborative project between Dia, Sahil Sangha and Wildlife Trust of India. It is out now across all digital services on UMG.

Comedy is difficult to perform: Diana Penty

Actress Diana Penty says essaying a comic role is quite challenging for her, but she loves playing such characters as it helps her to grow as an artist.

"I think comedy is different to perform because maintaining the spontaneity is a task," Diana, who will soon be seen in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, told to a leading publication.

"Especially when we are doing a situational comedy film like Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi which is filled with one-liners, it is important to maintain the spontaneous energy all the time. Since it is scripted and there are times when we do a lot of taking of the same shot, the spontaneity might go down," she added.

Diana, who has played a myriad of roles in her six-year journey in Bollywood like the girl next door Meera from Cocktail, loud Punjabi girl Harpreet in Happy Bhag Jayegi and Captain Ambalika in Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, says as an actress she has to hold on to "that energy; that is challenging."

The 32-year-old actress will once again essay the role of Harpreet "Happy" Kaur in the film, which is the sequel of Happy Bhag Jayegi that released in 2016.

Asked if bringing back the same character on screen was tough, she said, "Initially, I thought so because we shot the first one in 2015. It is almost three years now, but I think once I started reading the script again, that character came back to me... That loudness, madness of Happy!"

The new addition to the film is actress Sonakshi Sinha. Diana says it was really nice working with her.

"Though I knew her, somehow we had never spoken... So, we first properly met during the shooting of our film. She is lovely and down to earth... There was an oneness onset among all of us."

Apart from Diana and Sonakshi, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi also features Jassi Gill and Jimmy Sheirgill.

It is slated to release on 24 August.

Manoj Bajpayee-starrer 'Gali Guleiyan' to release on 7 September

Debutant Dipesh Jain's Gali Guleiyan, for which Manoj Bajpayee was feted with the Best Actor Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), will hit the screens on 7 September.

The Hindi psychological drama -- also known as In The Shadows -- has traveled to almost 20 international film festivals. It even won a Special Jury Mention at the gala in Melbourne on Sunday night.

Manoj features in a heart-wrenching portrayal of a man trapped within the walls and alleys of old Delhi and his own mind, and it is about how he attempts to break free to find a human connection.

The critically acclaimed actor was competing at IFFM with actors like Akshay Kumar (Pad Man), Ranbir Kapoor (Sanju), Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor (Padmaavat) and Varun Dhawan (October).

Manoj said it's a fantastic feeling to win the award, especially when "so many actors who have all done such a great job" were in competition.

"My character in Gali Guleiyan is a very complex one with many layers and the film itself is a difficult one to make. Hats off to our director Dipesh, who despite being a newcomer, came up with such a great idea, made this challenging film and has taken it to festivals across the world.

"The adulation that the film has received has been overwhelming and we are very excited to now take it to our audience as the film sets up for its release in theatres worldwide on 7 September."

Jain, who is from Los Angeles, hopes the audience comes forward to support the movie.

"I'll encourage everyone to come to watch our film in theatres as it surely will give them an immersive psychological experience like never before."

While Manoj plays the main protagonist, he is supported by an ensemble cast of Ranvir Shorey, Neeraj Kabi, and Shahana Goswami along with debutant child actor Om Singh.

It is produced by Shuchi Jain of Exstant Motion Pictures.

Jacqueline suggests five essentials for fitness wardrobe

Whether you're running marathons, sweating it out on the treadmill or channeling inner peace through yoga, you need the right wardrobe to keep yourself comfortable. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, also a fitness enthusiast, has some suggestions.

Jacqueline, who has launched the activewear brand Just F, has a list of essentials that every style diva should have in her workout wardrobe:

Snug leggings: The perfect pair of leggings is well-fitted, hugs your body in just the right places and is made of stretchy, flexible fabric that moves with you. Cotton, lycra, and mesh make for a snug yet breathable leggings that are best suited to workouts.

Ditch the boring old black leggings trend and opt for bold, bright colors and prints instead that will make you feel energized and ready to take on the (fitness) world. To get more functionality out of this workout essential, choose leggings with pockets for your cards or keys.

Tank tops: A tank top is the most versatile piece you could have in your fitness wardrobe. The fit and the flattering top can be paired with leggings, shorts, yoga pants or skirts. It can be worn on its own, layered over a sports bra or under a sweatshirt. The best part is, tank tops are available in an array of prints, colours and silhouettes so you can mix and match for different outfits every day. You can make your tank top work double time by creating evening looks, wearing it under blazers or with a transparent shirt.

Sports bras: Nothing can dampen your workout spirit more than an ill-fitted, uncomfortable bra. Before hitting the gym, make sure you have a sturdy and supportive sports bra that is made to endure strenuous workouts. Pair them with leggings or shorts and layer them under a tee or tank for extra style points and added comfort.

Sneakers: Add a pair of cute sneakers to your workout wardrobe and your weary feet will thank you. Sneakers that sport bold colours or floral prints can easily be worn inside and outside the gym. Pair your stylish sneakers with a shift dress or a skirt and you're good to go out on the town right after getting that workout glow.

Joggers: Relaxed and trendy joggers have become the go-to choice for celebrities opting for an off-duty look. So, ditch your sorry sweatpants and switch to fresh and funky jogger pants for a fit and fabulous feeling. Joggers, available in various fabrics, fits and styles, ensure that you do not compromise on fashion while getting the most out of your workout as well.
