Amrish Sharma, the man behind the casting of Star Plus’ magnificent mythological drama Siya Ke Ram, considers the show his life changing opportunity. He has done casting for many big shows like Ganesh Leela, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Hatim and believes this new project to be his best.
He shared, “It took me almost a year to cast for Siya Ke Ram. I took auditions of almost 250 girls for the role of Sita. Casting for her has been the biggest challenge for me. Well, we finally got our Sita in the biggest sensation of South India. I think television has got the best Ram and Sita jodi so far.”
How difficult was it for you to cast Madirakshi as Sita? “Well, not difficult but the casting was very tough for me. Firstly, I researched about her and then tried to contact her. She realized that it was one of the biggest shows on TV, so we followed it up with a look text where she finally came onboard,” he said.
What were the aspects that you kept in your mind while casting for the show? “I was approaching actors who were good looking, great performers and had a good screen presence. I am glad to have found Dalip Tahil and Bijay Anand for the show. Moreover, Ashish Sharma is the perfect choice for Ram.”
How difficult is to cast for mythological show v/s a daily soap? “It is very difficult. The actor needs to have a proper body language and should have a good command over words. It is a huge task to cast for mythological shows.”
How has Siya Re Ram changed your life? “Since the show’s inception, my industry friends have been appreciating my good work. Siya Ke Ram has made me prove my mettle as a casting director, and has opened doors for many big projects. I am happy that I have given a break to many newcomers, who are doing very well in their career,” he wrapped up.
Keep up the good work, Amrish!
