If melodrama is your style, watch Indian soaps by all means. But if you're the practical one, here are five things that the Indian soaps tend to overdo. Every. Single. Time. Our Observation.
Elaborate MIL-DIL fights:
For the uninitiated, MIL and DIL stand for mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, respectively. One of the things the soaps overdo almost always is the friction between these two ladies. From elaborately conniving tactics and schemes to blood-thirsty revenges, this is what sets us apart from the western shows.
Heavily Decked-Up Ladies:
Those doing household chores are forever dressed up in heavy saris and ornate jewellery. Whether they are cooking, cleaning or merely chatting, women don't seem to have even a strand of their hair out of place. Why oh why?
Random Themes:
What's more bizarre than reincarnations, amnesias and plastic surgeries? Time leaps, of course! Nobody seems to know why these leaps happen and why soaps continue to indulge in them.
Devoted 'Bahurani':
Have you seen anybody so devoted to their family that they are okay with being ridiculed, cursed and even half- murdered. Sigh. We love our soaps so much that we overlook this basic flaw in all the scripts!
Everybody is Rich:
Even the poorest of poor person is well dressed and living in style. Its kind of beats the purpose if every character is rich! That doesn't happen in real life, does it?
