Sony TV’s flagship singing reality show Indian Idol in its 9th season is definitely one of the better watches for our weekend fix. It’s peppered with the right amount of talent and passion. As the top 14 get ready to dish it out to us, we officially introduce the contestants to you. Take a look:
Mansi Bharadwaj:
She belongs to a typical middle-class family, where the mother acts as her inspiration and father goes to any length to support his laadli. While she can belt out a mean number in any genre, she prefers Bollywood, Sufi, Folks, and Classical.
Bharti Gupta:
Even though her hearing and speech-impaired parents can’t understand her music, she’s made a mark on the stage with her genuine talent and burning passion. Her nani is said to be against Bharti’s Indian Idol journey, but the youngster is determined to rock it.
Sowmya Mishra:
Her music teacher mum couldn’t make it big because of family pressure, but that wouldn’t be the case with Sowmya, who will go to any limit to pursue her passion. Trained in singing since she was two and half years, the bubbly girl wants to be a playback singer one day.
Khuda Baksh
His story will inspire many of us to not let hurdles come in the way of dreams. When his father passed away, leaving him, his mother and five sisters to fend for themselves, his world came crashing down. But he picked himself up and has reached so far in his musical career. Interestingly, everybody in his family sings and one of his sisters has crooned for Coke Studio as well.
LV Revanth Kumar:
He might have taken Tollywood by storm with his hit numbers in Baahubali, but he wants to create a mark in B-Town as well. With many songs in his kitty and a lot of training behind him, will he be a threat to more amateur participants?
RP Shravan:
It’s said that he started speaking quite late, but started singing rather early! The seasoned reality show participant wants to make it big as a singer or a director.
Hardeep Singh:
The professional band singer knows what struggle is. He will definitely try to bring his experience to the reality series, which he believes will make him break into the big league.
Tajinder Singh:
He’s had the most experience in reality shows and also in studio singing. He’s sung the opening and closing bit with Sonu Nigam for an YRF movie. Can he work his magic on this show too?
Jeli Kayi:
He takes versatility to another level as he can sing (rather beautifully) in both male and female voices. His unconventional looks might be deceiving, but boy! Can he sing…
Manya Narang:
She is an experienced performer who sings in over twenty shows a month. Her husband not only supports her, but also is the most excited about her career graph.
Stutee Tiwari:
She’s already had a stint on the show, albeit in the junior version. While she failed to make it through that, she started training even harder and has made it to Indian Idol.
Mohit Chopra:
He’s only done odd jobs to support his family so far, but that’s all going to change with this. The jagran singer can sure hope for a change in fortunes soon, eh?
Malvika Sundar:
This soulful singer hopes to follow in the footsteps of Sunidhi Chauhan and other biggies. She has been trained in music for a long time and has also given many concerts and applause-worthy performances.
PVNS Rohit:
Tutored by Balasubramaniam, Rohit couldn’t have had a better start. Despite his lack of fluency in Hindi, he’s managed to win our hearts already. Perhaps that’s because he already has quite a bit of experience of singing in stage shows.
