Channel V's latest show Swim Team (Endemol India) looks like a promising show that can revolutionise Indian TV.
It's the first time we will be watching a niche show as Swim Team focuses purely on swimming, the competitive spirit of the sport and the relationships that are made and broken along the way. Sounds cool na? As the show launched yesterday, we tell you why you MUST watch it. Read on:
Niche shows are always interesting:
From youth-based shows to cookery ones, we all crave for niche shows that cater to our own interests. Considering how cool swimming as a sport is and how we love competitive shows, this Endemol production is pure gold. We will not only get to watch a one-of-a-kind show on the small screen, but also get to experience the ups and downs of sports. It might also inspire a lot of us to take up swimming and tone our bodies! The niche tag works wonders on TV. Don't believe us? Think of Khatron Ke Khiladi, Masterchef India, and Comedy Nights With Kapil, among others.
Sexy swimwear:
Who doesn't like to watch sexy sirens in smoldering swimwear? With a bunch of hotties flaunting themselves underwater in gorgeous bikinis, it's going to be a sizzling show for sure. It's not like the girls are going to have all the fun as the boys are also going to show off their chiseled torsos and sculpted bodies in this new-age drama. This only shows how far our industry has come from the times of coy shows to such bold series. We are definitely rooting for Swim Team. What about you?
Youth connect:
This show will definitely find a loyal audience in the youth of the nation who love to explore new series. They are also the right people to understand and appreciate innovative ideas. With the plot focusing on swimming, there's going to be many clashes, essence of team spirit and friends turning against each other in order to achieve their dreams. We are sure that there will be plenty of drama and energy in the show. If that doesn't tempt you to give this a shot, we wonder what will.
Never seen before concept:
The show's biggest USP is that we haven't seen such a concept on the small screen before. While Bollywood has played around with sport-based concepts in Iqbal, Chak De!, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, and Lagaan, among others, it's a relatively new thing for TV. That itself is a reason to watch this show, isn't it? We just hope that the makers can sustain the curiosity and deliver a concept that can excite and amuse us.
