Rajat Tokas - The Master of Disguise

Rajat Tokas
It is said that both Prithviraj and Akbar, the Mughal emperors were masters of disguises and Rajat Tokas who plays Akbar in Zee TVs popular show Jodha Akbar seems to be living up to the character with perfect élan. Rajat has donned around four looks so far on the show. Earlier he disguised as a Marwari to check on the well-being of the people in his empire then as a Chudiwala to stand-up against child marriage in his kingdom and probe into the matter and now the feisty Jalaal he will be seen as a maulvi and a soldier. To expose Maham Manga and her evil designs, Akbar will dress up as a maulvi in his court and even save Jodha who is expecting, from falling on her stomach. In a consequent scene, to finally draw curtains on Atifa and Amanulla’s game plan of making Jalaal fall in love with her to usurp his throne, he disguises as a soldier. Rajat who loves to don various avatars says ‘I thoroughly enjoy the sequences that require me to don a disguise. It’s fun to experiment and try something different from the usual look and play other characters on the same show. Very rarely does an actor get the chance to play different characters on one show and I consider myself really lucky for it.’ Rajat is a thorough professional and gets into the skin of any character he plays and has clearly emerged as the master of disguise on the small screen. He is loved by the audience for his portrayal of Akbar and let’s hope the audience will enjoy his portrayal of a soldier and Maulvi on the show as well. Do not miss Jodha-Akbar, Every Monday – Friday, from 8 – 8:30 PM, Only on Zee TV.
