Baazigar review: Vatsal impresses; content disappoints

Rishton Ka Saudagar Baazigar

Guroudev Bhalla & Dhaval Gada’s latest offering Rishton Ka Saudagar Baazigar on Life OK is perhaps one of the biggest ventures served to the audience from the kitty of these makers.

Before the series even went on air, in an interview with Tellychakkar.com, Guroudev Bhalla had asked us to expect the unexpected from his latest project Baazigar.

Showing faith on the makers, we did expect a lot from Baazigar, starring Vatsal Sheth and Ishita Dutta in the lead roles, which aired its first episode yesterday (June 20) evening.

Unfortunately, the makers seemed to have disappointed us.

Why you ask? We will tell you that shortly.

To be honest, except for Vatsal’s comeback, nothing excited us about the show. Like his previous fare Ek Hasina Thi, Vatsal once again played the role of a young, rich, heartthrob, who is always the talk of the town.

Unlike his previous character Shaurya, his current one, Aarav is not a womanizer, rather much in love with Ishita Dutta aka Arundhati (at least till now).

We won’t be surprised if he turns out to be the baddie. The way Vatsal cast a spell on us as Shaurya Goyenka, we guess that the viewers won’t mind him as a bad boy once again.

Ishita, on the other hand, did a decent job, but we guess she needs to work a bit more to match up to Vatsal’s charisma. With a team full of artists, who are more inclined to overacting, Pankaj Dheer and Sheetal Thakkar were the only saving points.

Even Jyoti Gauba, who otherwise looks pretty elegant in all other shows, failed this time as the evil, cunning aunt.

Not only the characterization of Baazigar looks similar to Ek Hasina Thi, but also Sheetal Thakkar’s look reminds us of Sakshi Goyenka. It means even in the costume and designing department, the makers didn’t have anything new to offer.

So, what’s there to look forward to in the show?

Well, the makers have cleverly intertwined many plots together, which definitely makes a curious soul wonder about the upcoming twists and turns. We won’t deny that too much of sub plots have been shown to the audience in the very first episode, nevertheless such suspense-filled plots are the only thing to look forward in the daily.

Coming to the production team, they have done a fitting job on their part.

On the whole, after the first episode, we feel that the show doesn’t have something new to offer to us. But the viewers can give it a try, especially keeping in mind that the makers have already delivered a super successful show like Udann. So, let’s cross our fingers and hope that Baazigar manages to impress us.
